COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
THREAD CUTTER, RECEDING SEGMENTAL DIE
(POST TYPE RATCHET THREADER)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification GGG-T-581.
This commercial item description covers one post type thread cutter, assigned National Stock Number (NSN) 5136-00-889-6639.
Salient characteristics:
Type. Post type with separate set of dies for each size thread. Dies bear against tapered post and recede as die head is turned.
Thread size. Shall accommodate 1-, 1 1/4, 1 1/2-, and 2 inch NPT RH dies.
Case. A suitable wood or metal case for carrying and storing the thread cutter shall be furnished.
Cutter marking. Thread cutters shall be free from imperfections which may affect their appearance, serviceability, or durability.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawing, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing and marking. Each thread cutter shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
