COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

THREAD CUTTER, DIE HEAD, HAND

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this

Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification

GGG-T-581, type III, class1

This description covers ratcheting drop head thread cutters.

Salient characteristics:

Type.     Shall be the ratcheting drop head type with a die head and handle (diestock), and a separate die head or guide and die for each thread size shown below, as specified by the National Stock Number (NSN). Unless otherwise specified in the contract or order, die heads shall be of the segmental style.

Case.     A suitable wood or metal case for carrying and storing the thread cutter shall be furnished. The case shall provide recesses for each die head and have a carrying handle, hinged lid, and catches for retaining the lid in a closed position.

Marking. Thread cutters shall be permanently and legibly marked with the manufacturer’s name or trademark.

Workmanship.  Thread cutters shall be free from imperfections which may affect their appearance, serviceability, or durability.

Regulatory requirements.            The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.

Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking.               The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
