Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification GGG-D-296.
This commercial item description covers two-handles diestocks for use with adjustable, round, split dies.
Salient characteristics:
Design. The diestock shall be designed with a machined recess in the center portion to accept the die and have two handles, 180o apart, extending on either side. The side of the recess shall be tapped for three setscrews 90o apart. Two setscrews with oval points shall be furnished in the tapped holes located 180o apart, and one setscrew with a 90o cone point shall be furnished in the center tapped hole.
Handles. Each handle shall be of such size and shape as to afford a comfortable handgrip and shall be of such strengrth as to withstand, without permanent deformation, the torque required to cut the largest size threads within the die capacity of the diestock.
Sizes. Diestocks shall be furnished in the following sizes as specified by the National Stock Number (NSN):

Marking. Diestocks shall be marked in a permanent and legible manner with the manufacturer’s name or identifyng trademark.
Workmanship. All diestocks shall be free from imperfections which may affect their appearance,
serviceability, or durability.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, and marking. The dies shall be preserved and packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Unifirom Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
