Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification GGG-D-296.
This description covers one type of diestock used for holding rectangular two-piece die collets (see Commercial Item Description A-A-412) during threading operations.
Salient characteristics:
Design. The diestocks shall have a round recess with a shoulder to accept and retain rectangular two-piece die collets and two handles, each 180o apart, extending from the body of the diestock. A cone pointed thumbscrew or setscrew shall extend through the side of the recess to retain the collet in the diestock.
Sizes. Diestocks shall be furnished with recess diameters and overall length as shown below for the National Stock Number (NSN) specified.

Marking. Diestocks shall be marked in a permanent and legible manner with the manufacturer’s name or trademark.
Workmanship. Diestocks shall be free from imperfections which may affect their appearance, serviceability, or durability.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conform to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered material. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered material to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
